Copake History Talk: Howard Blue

  • Copake Grange 935 628 Empire Road Copake, NY 12516 USA (map)

Join author and Grange historian, Howard Blue, for a presentation on two forgotten aspects of Copake’s history: ice harvesting and semi-pro baseball. The program will feature rare home movie footage including clips of a horseman doing tricks at West Copake’s former Camp Ferosdel; Doc and Tess Raabe, the camp's founders, in a horse-drawn sleigh; and hay harvesting in the 1940s, as well as old photographic images which Blue has collected from both residents and institutions.

Blue publishes the Copake History Facebook page and has lectured extensively throughout Columbia County, New York City, and in England and Russia. He also periodically publishes freelance articles, mostly on local history.
